Hi dazed.....I think it's great that you're reaching out to see a therapist, and I hope one becomes available to you soon. A caring person to talk to can certainly be a wonderful thing. I do hope that sometime in the future you might also see a physician (MD). While a psychologist can certainly listen to you and there is much they can do....including to help figure out that you are possibly dealing with depression, to get the most clear diagnosis, and therefore increase your options for treatment, it is necessary to have a medical doctor on your team. As someone who has been fighting this demon for many, many years, I'd just hate to think of you limiting your access to all the options out there, which you would be if you only saw a therapist. Only an MD can order lab work to evaluate your brain chemicals (neurotransmitters), or prescribe medications (if appropriate) that may help to correct possible imbalances and hopefully help you to feel better.....
