When you stand, try and move your legs. Venous stasis explains the cramping feeling you get when you haven't moved. If you stand straight for too long without moving your legs you can pass out.

I always move my legs when I stand. I sometimes shift my weight from one leg to the other and then back. Maybe that is why I can stand for prolonged periods of time.
