Back when I was in a lot of distress, I came across a book (can't remember which one...I had a library full of self-help books!) that described an exercise, a visualization, of creating your own special place...a residence in which you find comfort and peace. In the book, she described how you create the setting, the furnishings, the rooms, etc. For me, odd though it sounds, it's a cave room. I even see myself walking thru the woods to it. It's a path I follow, sometimes in the snow, with tree boughs drooping overhead heavy with snow, till I reach the entrance, which is a heavy door with a stoop outside. It's inviting, but I am the only one with a key. I enter the cave by a few steps up in the entryway inside (kind of like a foyer from which I step up two stone steps). Inside is a cavernous room with a comfy sofa in front of a big fireplace. The sofa has soft covers under which I can snuggle. There is an adjacent bedroom, but I tend to stay in the room with the fireplace. I like going there, to "my place." Do any others of you have such a place?
