I read somewhere that u are not supposed to open the capsule. It is made a certain way as to release just enough into your system for u to feel somewhat immediate relief and the rest let into your system gradually as time goes on. By taking it in powder form, u are releasing too much into your bloodstream at once.

I would talk to ur doc. It sound like maybe the starting dosage was too high... But I wouldn't split it if I were u.
