Hi! I want to be a psychologist when I am older. In the beginning, I felt like it would be a great idea, since I have so much exposure to mental illness. I myself have ADHD and OCD. I have gone through bouts of depression, anorexia, bulimia, panic attacks, sleep apnea, etc. my sister is bipolar and sensory processing disorder as well as ADHD. But then i was thinking, will that experience make me biased? Is it better not to have firsthand experience because that way u can stay emotionally detached? I feel like if I was a therapist, I would too personally relate to the clients. But is that a bad thing?
