Hey there - sorry I missed this earlier. I don't know much about ADHD, but my husband's pdoc said that the ADD tests themselves are not completely conclusive. He said that the best test is how people respond to the ADD meds -- they work if you have ADD, or they don't do anything if you don't. Also, it is my understanding that ADD meds kick in right away, so if you don't notice any difference after a week or so, then I'd go back to your pdoc and ask to try something different or else re-evaluate your condition. My husband is on Strattera.
About the fidgeting/impulsiveness -- this is why my husband was diagnosed with ADD instead of ADHD. He has none of the H. Maybe that's what doing on with you, too.
But yes, he does tend to dwell. I don't think it would be fair for me to say "on unnecessary things" because whether it's necessary or not is up to the person who is doing the thinking.
His other main symptom is the he simply cannot prioritize when faced with two important choices. It makes it very difficult for him to work in an unstructured environment. It's not so much that he is disorganized -- actually, in some ways he is annoyingly organized in the sense that everything has to be in its place or he gets agitated, although not quite so much that it would border on OCD.
Does any of that help? Have you come to any new conclusions since you posted this a few days ago?
