I like bipolar because I like the image of the earth with the north and south pole that comes along with it for me... I don't get offended when someone says 'manic depressive' I just tend to think, "they are old fashioned." It's like someone saying "Sugar Diabetes" or "Juvanile Diabetes," both are old fashioned terms that are inaccurate, but people still use them.
The term that I wish would change is "mood disorder." That's the one I don't like. Because it gives the impression that you just need an attitude adjustment, or that it's just all in your head, and promotes stigma.
