I think that we all think that is is more "intimate" when we talk about female to female sex than when we talk female to male sex is because we aren't USED to talking about femal to female sex. Even if we don't read erotica, in mainstream fiction we have PLENTY of accounts of female to male sexual encounters. I'm a fiction writer and I know that the accounts of sexual encounteters is vast. In today's fiction, there is very little fiction that doesn't include at least ONE sexual scene.

It makes me sad, not the fact that we write or talk about sex. I personally think that's great. But I am sad that I think that we are often boxed in or confined to one description of what constitutes acceptable sexual contact. Just my thought on the subject.
