There is a book/CD out by a guy named Jon Kabat-Zinn on mindfullness meditation. He is a forefather of DBT. He started a clinic in Boston primarily for people with terminal or pervasive illness aggrevated or caused by stress or severe stress-related issues. It was so successful that he was asked to write a book, the first bookbeing Mindfulness Meditation. I was introduced to him through a BPD book prior to knowing anything about DBT. I would highly recommend going through it and practicing it for a month or two prior to getting involved in DBT (I know you're already involved). I found it highly useful. When I first started it, I disassociated all the time. I was already having problems with disassociating, and the practices taught me how to do it at will! The more I practiced some of the medications and mindfullness exercises, however, the more I focused and I actually started getting it! I started the Yahoo DBT a few months later and have been at least somewhat successful. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be successful in DBT. I'd recommend getting the book first to see if it's worthwhile and if you seem to be getting something from it, get the CD's. I was able to get both of them on EBay.
Thanks for this!
