I decided to get in shape about a year ago, and basically what I did was along with exercise, I pretty much just ate cereal(special K) whenever I was hungry. I ate regular food too, but always ate cereal whenever I wanted a snack or something. It didn't take long to lose weight, in fact I actually had to gain a bit of weight back(starting looking too thin).

Working out I didn't use a gym or anything. Since I have a Ps3 I used a game called EA Sports Active. I just used it to do cardio and stomach exercises maybe three times a week.

I worked out with weights too, but if you are just wanting to lose some weight you might not really want to bother with that, but I think cardio would help the best.
