How old are you? Have your worked and paid into the Social Security system for 10 years? If so, then you're NOT too old for Medicare. If you file for Disability, and get approved, you WILL get a Medicare!
If your health is such that you cannot work, then you should file for Disability. Get the forms from your local Social Security office, and fill them out and send them in to get the ball rolling. It will take awhile, so the sooner you do it, the better off you'll be.
