What a terrific line of thought! I, for one, never thought of the word "*****" as one I would want to attach to myself, but I have a new appreciation of those who do. It is true that other words, such as "queer" and "wetback" have been proudly adopted.
There is, however, an accpeted definition of the difference between aggression and assertion that has not been stated. Assertion is not allowing another to infringe upon your rights or injure you; aggression is the act of hurting another, of limiting or restricting, interfering with their rights and/or well-being, wthether physical, emotional, or pschologically. Speaking for myself, I have been the victim of more than enough aggression, and I would never want to inlict that upon another. Nor do I make it my mission to enlighten them or win the argument, I just walk away.
