You know this intsituation was the last in Canada to stop sterilization, I think it's said 90% of the sterilizations in Canada took place there, And it didn't stop till 1972! That isn't even that long ago!
We have to try to keep building on the positive changes tho, and sadly use the the dark parts of the history to learn from. Things are getting better... slowly. But much work to still be done.
Same for other areas, as a female in Canada I can proudly say " I am a female... and a Person!", well since 1929 anyways!
