You can also try talking with school advisors and find out about each program and any subprograms within the major (such as Technical Writing through the English Department). Here's a fun fact about being an English major... What CAN'T you do with an English major?! Being an English major will improve your writing, and being able to write in an articulate manner, as well as use critical reasoning/reading skills will always be valuable in just about any field of work. Personally, I think a double major of anything with English is pretty killer (but then, I'm definitely biased).

I also changed my major.. and universities. I changed from PoliSci to English. I'm still working towards my degree, though, because of my mental issues getting in the way. But, personally, I think you should try to figure out a way to do what you love.. Make it possible somehow, even if it's just in some sort of little way, because it'll make life a little bit more bearable...
