Hi,
I am an older student, currently have a class (Risk exposure in the workplace) and the bulk of the class is other students giving presentations. First presenter of the first team went off on a tangent speaking about the category of "ancestry and social environment" as part of an accident causation theory. That category is quite broad including family cultures of disregarding authority, hereditary diseases, substance abuse etc etc etc as a factor in on the job injuries. Well, this complete dumbass girl chose to focus on schizophrenics in the workplace, talked about a tv show that had a schizophrenic talking to a dog, made fun of all schizophrenics, suggested screening before hiring to try and not hire anyone with that disorder, and even said "it's probably illegal, but you should monitor that they are taking their medication because......". Now, I am torn, this "girl" suggested breaking the law, discriminating against people with a disability, and was just plain offensive on top of being stupid as dirt. I resent having to sit through classes that misinformation in the form of other students doing the teaching, and really am considering sending the instructor an email.
So, any thoughts?
