I agree with what Liv28 has just written. If someone wishes to disagree with you or anyone, that's fine, but it is their responsibility to do so respectfully, and if they don't have that particular skill or inclination to use it, it isn't worth you getting hurt by it. It then really does become 'their stuff' and a reflection upon them and not you.
I know, (believe me), how hurtful words can end up being, but as you have pointed out, they can't hurt us if we don't take them in and have them become personal for us!
