Welcome to PC ((seattlepoet)) - I'm sorry you've had bad experiences with doctors. Did you let your doctor know you went off the Prozac - with some meds its important to taper off gradually to avoid withdrawal affects. How long have you had the palpitations? Have you had blood work to test your thyroid?

I get irregular heartbeat sometimes too and had the test to rule out the harmful kind. Have any of the doctors explained, there are different kinds of irregular heartbeats - serious and non serious?? Mine happen to be the harmless kind but I do understand they feel odd when its happening. Its good you're avoiding caffeine because this can make them more frequent. I want to reassure you that this irregularity won't kill you or harm you. You might be helped by taking a magnesium supplement and this would also calm your anxiety as well. I think you should speak to your doctor about trying an anxiety med.

I also used to get panic attacks as a child and know how scarey they can be. One very valuable trick is not to resist the attack. The more the person resists, the more intense the panic and the circle of fear. The trick is, to accept the attack and you can even joke and say "hit me with your best shot". Once you realize the panic can't do lasting harm and it no longer scares you.....the panic will begin to get better. You may be worried deep down, you're going to die ....try not to worry about that. If there was anything seriously wrong the tests would have showed it. Once you disarm the panic by not fearing it, you'll start to feel less worried.
