Hi, I'm new to this forum, and was just wondering if anyone ever had a similar experience.
I'm diagnosed Bi Polar and pure-o OCD, and I was on a Lithium/Lexapro combination for several years.
The Lexapro had me nearly OCD symptom free for a long while, so much so that I had basically forgotten about my lifelong struggle with obsessive-compulsive thinking.
About 6 months ago, after frequently missing doses and drinking heavily for about a year, I stopped alcohol and all meds altogether, abruptly. About a month later, my OCD came back in a rush, and seemed to be playing catch up for all the time it was dormant.
It continually got worse until my obsessions had completely consumed my being. It was worse than it had ever been and so bad that, in combination with mania, caused me to check into the hospital.
I am now back on meds and steadily improving.
I'm wondering, do any of you OCD people have a similar experience of symptoms coming back like a tidal wave after medication cessation?
