My coworker's husband works at this engineering firm and there's an administrative assistant position opening up. My coworker (who is really like a mom to me) keeps telling me how I'm too smart for this kind of work, etc. She's so nice and supportive. Her husband is not the hiring manager, but he said he would take my resume/cover letter to HR. I've never asked for help before with getting a job. I feel a little weird about it.

I don't know her outside of work. All of the jobs I've ever held were obtained on my own. Am I being silly about this?
