I am a firm believer that real love is when two people have the same strong emotional feelings and attractions for each other. One-sided feelings, like you experienced in 10th grade, do not meet this definition of love. When someone does not share your feelings for them, and they turn you down, it is actually a good thing. Why? Because it frees you to find someone who loves you in return; it enables you to consider looking for "real love;" and it gives you an opportunity and incentive to go find it.

No question, feelings of love that are not returned hurts a lot. But, experiencing "true love" rather than "one-sided love" is the real goal. No unreturned love interest is so important as to ruin your life over it. It's her loss that they did not appreciate your feelings. It's time to learn what real love is and how to look properly for it. It sounds like some counseling could help. Are you seeing a counselor?
Thanks for this!
