My T checks with me every few weeks, if I don't mention it for a while. She knows it's a problem for me, and wants to make sure that we keep in front of it if those thoughts creep up. My T has told me that suicidal thinking is one of those things that can change and escalate rather quickly, so it's better to check on those thoughts than to assume that the client is fine or that they will bring it up right away.
