its hard to tell if someone is depressed because it takes on many forms. the only thing i can say is that around the mid-teen age we do experience issues with wieght, friends, emotions etc, it is our mind changing and hormones taking over. this will count for a majority of your emotions.

try not to worry about your wieght, people always think they look different to what they actually are, things are never as bad as they seem.

people often drift away from friends, however sad it may be, its part of life.

our interest change too as we grow up, as does our taste for things.

as for seeing a doctor, you should see your GP, and you dont need to tell your parents. your GP cant tell your parents without your consent, unless it is critically important. go speak with your GP without telling your parents and ask his/her advice, they will be able to determine whetjer you have depression or not, and they can refer you to a councillor too if they feel the need to.

but in my opinion (and this is not meant to be patranising or demeaning, or offensive etc) i think alot of your problems are due to your age. it is always around this age people feel unhappy with themselves and their lives. it is entirely natural and you will groiw out if it. but im judging this on what you have just told us, i dont know your true feelings, so it may be that you are depressed, i dont know, that is something you will have to sit down with your gp about.

i am a 19 year old male, and i truly know the emotions you expreience as a teen. but looking back, my age did count for some of my emotions, not all of them admittedly because i had to grieve and recover from a bad childhood.

why do you find it hard talking to your parents about it, do you not feel they will be supportive and help you through it?

i wish you all the best, and if you need a chat, pm me, i do understand how you are feeling.
