My other cats didn't care if I went into the bathroom, I thought Sir was being a bit too possessive. Glad to know it's not so unusual. I got him from the shelter when he was there for the 3rd time and in ISO for the second time, but he has never left my apartment(except in his carrier, he is even good about getting in the carrier--I think he likes rides and going to the vet!!)-even when they took the door off to replace it, instead he went into my bedroom and hid. He will go out on the patio, but only if I go out first. I think the first owners must have kicked him out and thats why he would end up at the shelter! Grrr. After the second time they had to neuter him and pay $135, the third time, his return to owner fee was $300 dollars, they decided not to come and get him. At our shelter the fee goes up every time an owner "loses" their pet, if they think the owner is at fault.
We had to come to an understanding that my bed was off limits-I do need to sleep I have chronic pain so his sleeping on me didn't work. The first few days I shut the bedroom door he tried to dig his way under the door to get in. Now after 3 plus years he will let me do things on my own(sleep and toilet), but not a bath, he has to supervise me in all that water! At least now he will supervise from the chair, he used to try and climb onto my shoulders when I got into the tub--I'm glad he trusts me now. Sometimes he will even wait until I get my shoes off before climbing on me when I come in the door. He is a very peculiar cat-who loves so much. Even now at 8 he plays w/ mice and hides them all over, under rugs too. I have to go around and find them or he begs for new ones, he will sit in front of me staring at me-with his ESP he lets me know what he wants. I still haven't found the hiding place for the tiny ones he loves best, they just disappear, when I bring home new ones he loves playing with them, then at night he hides them, in the closets, under the chairs, TV, under all the kitchen appliances, and the rugs.
Sir = His full name is Sir Lawrence knight of the Crescent Moon, as a English Blue he needed a proper name & title!
Sir is sorry Thomas got his claws taken. He recommends lots of cat scratchers around the home. He is glad Thomas found a good person to own, one that understands his needs.
