I don't drink them because I don't want them to push me over the edge. I used to over caffine myself with coffee.
But, my husband drinks them because he says they help him focus. I hear that it is common to self-medicate with energy drinks.
I would say exercising is a good way to build energy but you already have a very physical activity job. Also maybe look at your diet? Having a poor diet can really effect your energy. Also making sure you get to bed at the same time every night can help, I think.
