when i moved here, i was given a phone number. i started getting calls asking for "pedro"....no one has ever translated pat into "pedro"......so i would politely tell this man that he had the wrong number. he got more insistent that i knew where "pedro" was at and that i wasn't telling him the truth. i live alone.......i came back from WV and got a call at 2:00 a.m. demanding "pedro"...."he owes me a @#$%^&*() of money and you better cough him up".....
i'm no a person who is easily frightened. but i am easily ticked off by having my privacy invaded. plus, he sounded as if he could possibly come over and try to shake the truth out of me. i have three dogs.....but remember fayedy was stabbed and slashed in a foiled breakin in Oklahoma........
i called AT&T and asked what it would cost to change my number $38. i said i can't afford it and told her what had happened. she said in that case, they change the number free, put restrictions on it and it becomes unlisted at no charge. the restrictions are such that no one could ever, ever find my new number on the internet. somehow they have the power to block any inquires now.....
for once, i bowed to a big company and was so very grateful that they would be that helpful.
"pedro" has left the building..................
