Hi Jac,
I think its very good that you are asking yourself this question. It's always tough to start therapy with someone new. I remember the first time I started therapy in college. It was tough, but I knew I really needed help. Universities usually have (free) counselling services for students. You could try without for a week or two and see how you feel. Or you could start with maybe a session once every two weeks. In your situation, I would probably go talk to a counselor and tell them what you have said here, and any other concerns you may have.
