What do you do when you or your partner is on their period?

I'd really like to be fingered but that would be difficult if not messy to do while on my period. Should I wear a tampon until I'm ready? Oh yeah, btw, I found someone who's into Nazis and strapons! hahaha! I've known him for over a month and I let him go as far as fingering. We talked about ****, but I'd like to get used to being touched first because I'm super sensitive, but then again I'm so excited thinking tomorrow may be my first time and I really want this. I'm really excited!
