Yes, hummingbirds rest quietly. In the heat they pant. In the winter our Anna's stay over. I was quite shocked but not suprised to see one fly from he feeder one snowy morning and zip down into a hole at the base of a Redwood tree. They apparently cooperate with mammals and/or lizards to survive....... who knew?

Makes sense though, to eat bugs while the others are in stupor, to freshen the air by ins and outs with those little wings going..... Expains why they show up at the feeder dry and without icicles hanging from their little beaks..... which was a question that was driving me crazy for 20 years...... we know nothing about nothing, ya know?
