Something good just happened. Probably under the circumstances (I am expecting a rejection from a very good employer tomorrow) it is the best thing that could have happened. Nice. A former colleague of mine, M., IM'd me. It has been a couple of months since we last chatted. There was a moment when he expressed some romantic interest, but at that time I was hoping to win my ex back, and told him about it, and he immediately stopped pursuing me. That was close to a year ago. Now over this IM session I told him that I am moving, that my ex and the daughters are moving to the neighboring city and I will live in their current apartment, which is very large. I told him that I have an old friend visiting; I further invited him for lunch after D. leaves and even offered him a choice of menus and he picked lamb chops, rare to medium (I've never cooked them this way because my ex and I like our meat well, but I gather that it would mean broiling each side for 5 minutes). So we are all set. I look forward to it! He is a funny, modest, rather awkward gentleman who is very short, but it is OK.
Scheduling two men in a row, even for something as modest as a meal, reminded me of how attention from multiple men at the same time used to feel. It sure felt great. Better than any drug, not that my experience with drugs is varied or expansive. But still.
