Ye gawds, what some of you have to go through to see a mental health professional!! I had to wait too, but only for about 4 weeks after I was referred by my primary care MD. Around here that's a very short wait, and I was grateful for that because I really was in a lot of trouble then. My first visit was almost 2 hours and I received a diagnosis the same day, from a doctor who's actually very conservative when it comes to diagnosing bipolar disorder. I can't imagine going through several interviews/intakes before finally getting to see a psychiatrist, psych NP or Psy.D.---I think I would've gone over the edge if I'd had to deal with that before I could get any help. My hat's off to all of you who had to trudge through layers of bureaucracy before you got any real help.
