Hello, Surry19!
When doctors were helping me with “sleep hygiene,” a couple methods proved
slightly better than others – in my case, anyway:
- Paradoxical Intention: When you can't sleep, try to stay awake.
- Mild Distraction: Get your mind off the whole subject of sleep/wakefulness. Find something (background music or noise, background chatter - nothing too interesting or exciting, reading, meditating, journaling, etc.) that gets you thinking about anything else other than your being awake or wanting to fall asleep. The idea is to get your mind off the process of falling asleep.
May you have pleasant dreams!
