He isn't going to stop cheating on you. It's his way.
I think that you're hypothesizing that he'll stop cheating once he's been hurt. Maybe so. Who's to say that you're the one that he really cares about though? In my experience, guys usually fall for their first & then go hog wild for a while. Some guys stay in that mindset for years ~ others pass through it more quickly.
However, I would advise against being with your bf completely until he is obviously over this phase that he's currently stuck in. Please don't lower yourself by cheating on him. IF you did cheat on him (and he didn't give you the wanted response), you would be really hurting inside!!! Your self-esteem would be incredibly low. Let go of him....today. Holding on to this ideal bf, which he isn't meeting, is big trouble. Let go of that ideal NOW.
