The reality of the situation is that you aren't going to be able to morph into someone else - the good thing is that you notice you have less than attractive qualities and want to work on improving them. I think counselling or therapy is an excellent idea. You can get to the root of the problem and as shezbut mentioned, work on replacing such behaviours with a different outlook/way of processing information which leads you to behave in such a way.
