Hi darkeyes, I had thyroid nodules for quite sometime I think. When I was young I would get regular physicals, and the Drs would always feel my thyroid and then order a T3 & T4 (thyroid function tests) and nothing would ever come of it..........

When I had my first hospitalization (at 16) for depression, and any subsquent hospitalizations after that, the T3 & T4 were always done......with no obvious problems as far as I know.........

Enter the med Lamictal.......that med made me so sore, I had headaches and my neck and throat area felt so sore and stiff. I went to the Dr to make sure it was nothing else and guess what..........he did the standard T3 & T4 after he felt my thyroid, but he also did a CAT scan!! The tests showed I had a multinodular thyroid and after a month of additional tests we decided to take the thyroid out.

It was the easiest surgery, and recovery time was 2 weeks tops!

I would like to say that having the thyroid out and being regulated on the levoxyl has helped my depression, but alas it has not............although I know that nodulas can screw with the thyroid and consequently your moods.

Don't worry about the noduals or any of the tests they will be doing for that matter, all the tests are all really easy.
