I have to agree. Before becoming a Moderator, you would HAVE to experience the forum itself -- the people, the problems, your own problems, etc. You would need to experience exactly how the forum works, why it works that way, etc.
I think becoming a part of the community would be important before even thinking of becoming a Moderator of any forum. One needs to know the people and how things work.
