I am kind of going through a rough time at the moment, so forgive me if I am not myself. I know you needed a reply though.
From personal experience, having both an Online relationship and many "IRL" relationships, the Online relationship was the best. It allowed us to really get to know each other, something we probably wouldn't have done IRL. It allowed us to really fall in love before we even met. I think that it is a great way to handle relationships if you can take the distance. After that relationship ended (which was my final one) I never really wanted to go back to one IRL. Too many people just want one thing, and that's not for me. I want love, not lust. I have given up on it though, as I am still in love with my ex.
I do know how you feel though. All I can really say is practice makes perfect. The best thing to do when looking for a relationship, is to not look for a relationship. Let it find you. Don't be looking for it, just let it happen. Those are the best relationships in my opinion. Look for friends, not boyfriends. That's what ended up working for me. We became friends first, fell in love.
