Yesterday me and my 10 yr old went shopping for a Katie Perry Halloween costume for the California Girls theme - the candy dress, not the more daring cupcake bra thing. When I was a kid, we always made our costumes and that was half the fun. There weren't any kids ones, so I improvised and found this rainbow chiffon Tutu at one store, which will go over a pink velvet skirt she already has. Then I went to a department store and found a lavender wig with a heart hair headband -normally this would go for $40 but it was $15...but because the store is going out of business I got it for $4. Her friend bought a blue one and paid $30. Went to a 2nd hand store and got a white shirt with little sweater for $5, got candy scrapbook stickers and candy...then hot glue gunned all this onto the shirt. I love getting good deals. It was so much fun doing this with my daughter and making her so happy. It looks awesome. At that moment everything was perfect and we had fun.
