It sounds like he's taking things too fast for you. The way I see it is you'd rather he slow things down, until you can decide whether you really like him that much or not.
Why not sit him down, and tell him he's going too fast, and you want to take thiings slowly. Tell him that in past relationships, you always went too fast, and it ended up disastrous so this time you want to go slow so that you can be SURE of your feelings. He should be able to understand that. If he can't then he's not for you. I would think that HE would want to slow things down too, before both of you get too serious and it ends in a nasty breakup.
So just talk to him -- he should understand. I hope.
