Absolutely not a waste of a thread!
We haven't had TV in our house for a little over a year. No cable or satellite because I owe 3 companies money for past-due bills and equipment that I never returned.
I never bought the converter box a few years ago when the government was telling us we had to get it or we would no longer get local channels.
So we don't even have local channels.
Sometimes I miss it. I used to have the TV on in the background for noise and so I would feel connected with the outside world, but the negativity on the news brought me down.
I love comedies, but sometimes they trigger me.
I think part of the reason my work history is so terrible is because I've watched so many sit-coms through the years where the characters were at work and all they did was joke around. I expect to socialize and joke around at work instead of actually working.
There are just a few shows that I watch now, and I watch them online.
"Parenthood" is good, but it's a trigger for me to see a big family, even when the family is not happy all the time. It just reminds me of how alone I am, how very small my family is, and how we barely scratch the surface with getting to know each other.
I watched the first season of "Downton Abbey" on Netflix and haven't watched more. I liked it, but not enough to give up a hour here and there.
