I might take a second to explain... I don't feel that any movie maker needs to show anything so traumatic just in the interest of entertainment ...and if it's educational... well... I'm just not sure it needs to be shown so viciously...
Letting trauma events "go" is difficult..that's why they are categorized as traumatic... if it was easy... it wouldn't be labled so.
There is a need to go over and over a traumatic event... to help the brain file it correctly... to where it doesn't always intrude into our daily thoughts. Most of the time, you need someone expert in hearing and helping us work through it... someone to hear the story over and over with us... rumination or rerunning the event over and over in our minds isn't the same thing.
The main thing, imo, to to keep telling ourselves it isn't happening NOW... it did happen but I'm safe NOW. It gets old, I think, even to you all reading me saying it here at PC so much... but imo that's what it takes... keep telling yourself.. it takes a while for your mind to believe it..
