I'm sorry that you're struggling. I hope that your 8yo will be ok. Regarding your parents: my dad's parents were emotionally abusive and my parents cut them out of our lives when I was about 9, and we've had nothing to do with them since then. I think some of my issues stem from the constant criticism and abuse I suffered from my grandmother. Sometimes you have to do what's best for your children. It really was the best thing for my parents to do for us as we were miserable around them.
