I have been using hypnotic techniques on and off as a part of my therapy and or for my own relaxation for about 20 years when my first therapist introduced me to relaxation visualizations and have never had this problem. hypnosis is supposed to relax and basically help the person not feel so stressed out and so on.

When ever LL (my present therapist)and I use hypnotic techniques I always come out of it a bit foggy for the fist couple minutes kind of like I just took a nice nap wioth a terrific dream. Then with in a few minutes of bringing myself back into full awareness I am fine. Even when we used hypnotic techniques with the sand tray activitiy. I came out of it feeling very calm and rested.

The only problems that I have after using hypnotic techniques is that I have alot of flashbacks in the days that follow. if during the process we access a piece of memory. but even that is not groggy drag along.

Now if I take a medication sleep aid like benedrly or a muscle relaxer before doing the hypnotic techniques then yea I am tired and have a hard time pulling out of the tunnel and then need about 3-6 hours of sleep. But that is not because of the hypnotic techniques its because of the medication.

Hypnosis is supposed to be like falling gently asleep and then waking up again. its not supposed to be keeping you groggy and dragging. so I would talk to your therapist and possibly not do it again until you and your therapist can be sure this isn't going to happen again. because this could be a safety problem especially when you may have to drive a vehicle, cook meals and any other things that may require your full and aware attention so that you don't get into an accident and so on.

Even when accessing painful memories this should not be happening, flashbacks yes and sometimes or more - nightmares but not feeling like you are still under hypnosis - for this to be happening something isn't right either the process being used or whatever but please don't try using hypnotic techniques again until you know what is causing this problem and you and your therapist have taken care of the problem. too many safety hazards can happen if the problem isn't taken care of first.
