(((littlefish)))) I think one of the things I try to remember to do is BREATH...I have a tendency to either hold my breath, or hyperventilate...yeah, go figure, huh? I don't know when or why I started doing that, I think it goes back to childhood...
Anywho, these techniques I have found to work well (learned them years ago) remind myself of where I am, conciously make steady movements (that way I don't start getting myself even more excited or agitated with it), BREATH, take an inventory of what is around me-oh the flowers smell beautiful, the sun is shining, the warmth feels good (you might not actually feel it at the moment, but you are redirecting your sensations and mind response)...I'm safe, I am secure, I am okay (those are my key words, you might find others that work for you).
Practing the techniques throughout the day will help best when an onset of a flashback comes around, because you are already conditioning yourself to deal with it differently. Takes time, but like they say Rome wasn't built in a day, right???
Hugs, Lisa
