I think AFTER I got the apartment and was comfortably moved in -- I would just talk to her, and nicely inform her that she cannot ask that question of people who apply for residence there. That it is illegal, and she could get into trouble. Just tell her that you're informing her of this because you don't want her to get sued. (even tho you'd like to wring her neck )

She SHOULD know about this if she's a landlord or manager!!! And she probably does, but just the fact that you didn't "look" disabled probably got the best of her. She's gonna get into big trouble if she keeps this up.

I'm sorry you ran into this. I hate it when people give us the "look" because we don't look disabled. I'm a spinal patient, and there are days when I DON'T limp cause the meds work - and then there are other days i can barely walk. But the days I don't limp, I get some interesting looks, and it's maddening.
