I had endoscopic sinus surgery in January 2000 for recurrent sinus infections and a deviated septum. It was done outpatient and I missed a week of work. Since the surgery, I have had maybe three or four sinus infections. Before surgery, I would get one I as soon as I went off the antibiotic. It worked well for me and I would definitely have it again. Now for the bad news. The recovery is worse than the surgery(at least in my case). Lots of blood drainage in my throat(for weeks after surgery) along with general discomfort. My doctor did not pack my nose after surgery. When my wife had it done, they put tampons in each nostril for packing. She said when they pulled out the tampons, it was the worst pain she had ever felt. But her recovery was not as painful or drawn out as mine. Best of luck.
