Usually positions are filled quickly, so I would assume since they didn't hear from you for so long, they filled the position before you called.

I hope you are getting out there and getting some driving time in, so you can feel more comfortable driving. It's one of those things that gets better with time and experience, but the only way to do it is... well, to do it - practice and practice and see your comfort level rise!
