Yes, hello unpredictable I'd like to say that you are not alone in this. If you ever considered therapy it might be worth noting that therapists were once graduate students themselves and I'm sure would be more than happy to discuss coping methods for your academic pursuits.

I wish that I had a personal story to offer as encouragement for you today. But I do have one story of a family member who struggles with depression. He successfully completely an undergraduate degree, went on to medical school even though he had failed several entrance interviews, completed residency and fellowship training, and is currently a radiologist. Depression continues to be an issue for him but he still to works and has been a radiologist for many years now.

Whenever I'm feeling stressed out over my personal goals not being reached in the way that I wanted there's something that I remind myself;

List of Abraham Lincoln’s Failures:
  • Lost job, 1832
  • Defeated for legislature, 1832
  • Failed in business, 1833
  • Elected to legislature, 1834
  • Sweetheart (Ann Rutledge) died, 1835
  • Had nervous breakdown, 1836
  • Defeated for Speaker, 1838
  • Defeated for nomination for Congress, 1843
  • Elected to Congress, 1846
  • Lost renomination, 1848
  • Rejected for Land Officer, 1849
  • Defeated for Senate, 1854
  • Defeated for nomination for Vice-President, 1856
  • Again defeated for Senate, 1858

Elected President, 1860
Thanks for this!
