Harley, in most cases the VCH doesn't hurt that much. The tissue is about half the thickness of the average earlobe - the painful part is supposedly the placement of the recieving tube under the hood. Of course, any incompetent piercer can botch even the least painful of piercings, so it really does depend on the person getting pierced.
