So I finally go to see a new pdoc Thursday. My old pdoc was a quack. She has been adjusting my meds for two months, and the way she was doing it just wasn't working very well. She wouldn't just change one med and see what happened, she had to change them all. Every other week I was put on or taken off lexapro. Then she would ask me what med was working and what wasn't and actually expect me to be able to give her an answer.
Last week was the final straw. Since I've started taking the seroquel, My sleep really has to be routine, I can't function if it's not. At the same time though, when I started taking the seroquel, things actually started to improve. So I told her that I wanted to go to HR and ask to be switched from 2nd to 1st shift, because I'm on that sleep schedule now and it seems to work really well for me. My therapist said she thought it was a really good idea, because from her experience, people with bp or depression function better on a first shift schedule anyway. I brought it up to my pdoc too, and she said she would just take me off the seroquel then. Like seriously? She was going to take me off the one thing that seems to be helping, instead of just helping me work around it.
I saw the new pdoc, and she immediately agreed that first shift would be good, she would even write the note for HR for me if I needed her too. Then she said she was not going to even consider taking me off the serquel if that is helping. Then I told her I don't think the trileptal is helping at all. She said she hasn't found a lot of people it even does anything for, but she wants to actually get one med figured out before she takes me off another, because she tweaked my seroquel a little. ONE AT A TIME! What a unique concept! She also explained that I am having problems in the afternoon with my symptoms because my old pdoc had me taking a large dose at night and a small one in the morning. She took the time to explain that seroquel is only in my system for four to six hours so by afternoon, my morning dose was gone, so it wasn't helping me anymore, so she added an extra dose in the early afternoon, and that's all she changed. She even told me what to look for to find out if it is helping, or if I need to take a slightly larger dose. I already love this pdoc compared to my last one, and I've only seen her once.
On a side note, just because life can't make everything good all at once, and has to throw extra stuff at me at the same time (maybe that's what my old pdoc was taking lessons from) found out yesterday that my daughter's school has an outbreak of lice. We kept her home from school yesterday, and I spent three hours combing through her hair picking out nits after using the head bug shampoo. Then we sprayed the mattresses, the carpets, washed everything we could, put all her toys that can even think about carrying them into plastic bags in the garage. I had to explained the garbage bags a little better to her after my gf told her what had to go in the bags. She thought she actually had to throw half of her toys away, so I told her that they just had to go into the garage for a little while so they didn't get the head bugs too, but she would get them back. Have to comb through her hair again when she gets up this morning. Two and a half months into kindergarten and I'm ready to start homeschooling now.

Dirty little disease and bug infested children.
