During your conversation, did he say you were being self-centered, as in at that moment? Or was he saying "doggiedo, you are a self-centered person." I would think that if you were a self-centered person, you would've heard that from someone else before now. Have you? I doubt it. Maybe he meant something else and used the wrong "insult".
